nearly perfect week, although exhausting...

Plus I'm still snorky...two colds this season already....wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Well Wednesday night Brenda and I got together to exchange gifties. And since we pretty much IM each other daily, it was strange to be sitting together talking But Awesome. At one point we were sitting on the couch next together, each of us with our laptops on our laps....perfect, we are 'puter junkies.

Then Thursday night, we met Kristopher (in town from NY) at Taro's for sushi!!!! We caught up, shared some sushi and libations! Yum! Then to cap the evening, we headed to Crossroads (consignment) and Total Beauty Experience and sniffed the hell outta a million candles. Its amazing, he moves to NY and we see him more-I love it and him.

Friday at work not a lot of work was accomplished but my posse of crazy lady coworkers took a break from internet surfing and went to Hooters for lunch. Lori's birthday was the 23rd and mine being the first...they made us hoola hoop while five Hooters (or is that ten) girls sang to us...yes it was packed. I had nightmare flashbacks to Farrels as a kid~eck!

Then Saturday, My Day! We saw Happy Feet at the Imax (cute!), went to my fav thrift store in Davis, ate at Fuzios and capped the evening with Mark Dyle and us racing go karts at RPM. Loved it...10 minutes of getting my arse passed but I was the only grrl out there. Now that we are members, anyone want to go with us...we are hooked!!!

Sunday trip to the farmers market, Whole food and sushi dinner, home made by Chef Rich'e....happiely we are tucked away home for NYE, Lori O lent us a movie and we are set for a quiet evening. Happy New Year all!!!!

Sushi Saturday

Rich was told the place to buy sushi quality fish was Oto's Japan Food http://www.otosjapanfood.com/
in South Sac. So we set out for our goal early Saturday to procure said fish. We found jewel colored tuna confirming its high quality and freshness. So "game on" we had to test our newly aquired sushi making skills. Sean and Lori were willing to share the experience. We preped all day and Rich was so excited...he had prepped his favorite spicy tuna for hand rolls. Lori was a trouper trying, even knowing she was not a fan...guess what she's still not a fan...but you gotta love her moxie and willingness to try again. We had a great time gabbing in the garage and catching up. We stayed up very late, leaving me fuzzy today. My cold apparrently didn't condone my actions...damn it. But overall Rich is thrilled, cuz I don't have a voice at all today. Happy Christmas eve...and as for the cat, I just loved it and didn't have any pictures from last night. All evidence distroyed :P

sniff, snork, hack, hork and cough

nothing says the holidays with a cold. Thought Rich coming down with it on Saturday left me free and clear this time...nope, two days later its "Nyquil" time, calling in sick, two dogs and Meepers (cat/dog) joining me in bed all day. At least its not a horrible one, but staying close to bed , drinking loads of liquids and staying quiet. Happy healthy thoughts to my posse (do I have a posse?)...yes, Bren and Lor, I love you Woah-mans! K

Holiday SF Shopping trip

Margaret (aka Boog) and I took the train to San Franicisco's Union Square for a little Shopping extravaganza!!!! I loved the train, its amazing the wet lands surrounding Sac but Margaret gets a bit motion sick...so the train was not her favorite part. I think her favorite part was the shoe department at Macy's. We went to Neiman Marcus and Bloomies just to see how the other half lives....Shoes for $400....ouch!!!! The holiday decorations were a treat but the streets were packed. Plus we got to see the SPCA adoption windows at Macys.

We stayed at a boutique hotel, The Rex and it was really cute. But beware of those shopping packages, we got a bit screwed...oh well, we went with it. Plus thier restaurant was increadiable, our dinner was delicious pumpkin ravioli with a room delivery dessert...living large. Then we got our freak on...we put on our PJs, poured ourselves some wine, turned on "Finding Nemo" and we out by 9:20pm. Sad but we woke well rested!!! We dined on Eggs Benedict~yum and packed for our return trip.

Now mind you the hotel didn't have us coming in Saturday but Friday, and we confirmed our plans had changed but obviously we were there to stay with them. As for the Train we had tickets leaving Saturday and returning Monday cause that was our original plan. I called Amtrak and spoke with the clerk at the station and they all said, no problem. But come Sunday morning we are standing at the bus stop, cuz you have to bus in from Emeryville, and Margaret starts to get nervous since our plans show the bus coming at 12:35 but that would be for Monday...not Sunday! And we are there 30 minutes early, cause thats the kind of travelers we are...lo and behold up drives the bus, thank Gawd we were early...then things just fell into place...early departure from SF means early departure from Emeryville, means early arrival home.

GREAT TRIP and my best store was Lush, they make handmade soaps, massage bars, lotion bars and bath bombs. Then Sunday night, Survivor...what a shock, Yul won...I think just cause its seasonal~ha!

today's horoscope

Capricorn Capricorn
Daily extended (by Astrology.com)
Right now your career doesn't just require that you put in time and energy while you're actually at work. You have to go above and beyond to truly succeed in the position you're in. You might not realize the level of responsibility you've been given, but a lot of people have a lot of faith in you. To ensure that you don't disappoint yourself or anyone else, put in a little bit of extra effort and go the extra mile.

bumpy start to the evening, me and a coworker and our boss showed up to the El Torito across
from the mall. Ordered huge drinks and settled in for the evening. Unfortunately, all our coworkers were at the other El Torito, you know that one across from TGIFs? We were celebrating a coworker's last day and it was GREAT! Mar-rar-eeeetasssssssssss. 25 coworkers, tequila, dang camera phones and Gwack! I love my new job! and there will be evidence of this night-oi.

Lastly TV update, Survivor wrap up on Sunday (only kinda care), The Office is Frakin Genius, Battlestar Galattica is over until late January...like all my fav shows
ARAGAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
thanks goodness for Netflix, any good movie suggestions out there??? but not Rocky!

Josh Blue

Then Friday night we went to the Punch Line to see the winner of the last season's "Last Comic Standing." Rich and I both fell in Love with Josh Blue. When we saw he was coming to Sac, we were in!!!! Plus you forget how fun a comedy club can be...it was like an ab workout, laughing for an hour and a half. Well he did not disappoint with his laser humor. A perfect balance of self deprecating humor with keen life observations, and a touch of constant flirting. May we all wear our helmets more often.

Sushiology 101

So we made our reservations months ago to take a sushi making class taught by Taro Arai from Mikuni's. A thursday night class at the Sacramento library. The place had quite a few more attendees than we had expected and they blew the breakers when they started up the fryers for the deep freid shrimp,, so it got off to a rocky start. But Taro kept his sense of humor and soon we were Rockin and Rollin some sushi. First a california roll and then a spicy tuna hand roll and last a fair oaks roll(deep fried shrimp in a inside out roll with avacado on the outside). It went pretty well and we ate all we could but we made so much we had to take some home. We are soooo gonna take the next class. Hope to get out to afish store I just heard about on Freeport blvd called OTO's. If it works out I will be givin it a try at home soon. Can't wait.....

End of an era...

we set our 20 plus year old cat, Boy Cat free of his earthly body. He was part of our lives for so long...lived at our 26 and D, San Antonio, the condo, the apartment and Vancouver homes. We had his Mom in 1986, momma cat gave birth to him and three siblings. We kept two, Boy Cat and Girl Cat. Boy Cat was one tough cat in his youth but demonstrated his real toughness as at senior citazen. No matter where or when chicken was around BC was there. You couldn't eat ceral or ice cream without him in your bowl. He had no problem grabbing your hand, should it have what he wants, with his claw. Meepers knew his place though, every Sunday was "wet food" night and Meeps always let Boy Cat eat his fill before he started...

Tonights "Wet food" was a little confusing to Meepers...

When you don't have kids, our animals are our furry family and ours is reduced. We miss Boy Cat and I know Meepers does too. He had a pretty fabulous life...should we all have such adventures! I hope he's found a wonderful sunbeam enjoy with Girl Cat.

pre turkey day

Short week was a combination of my obsession of two things...as you know I've been very worried about Tiger's slow coat regrowth. So I started my obsession on getting a Dogloo, dog house. So I went to my neighborhood thrift store and lo and behold theres a dogloo there. BUT ITS 80 bucks. 80 Bucks!!!So I continued my search, on-line and Petco...new they go for $130 so because the weather forecast is coming in with rain...I caved. Yes, I am that cheap! I had to wrangle this thing into, yes, my Celcia. I cleaned it and Rich put it back together. The dogs will use it if there's treats but really it appears Meepers loves it. Second obsession, craft fair in the neighborhood this saturday. I have made all of these earrings and didn't know what I was going to do with them...wah lah...Craft Fair. Then I obsessed I needed more stuff to sell so I did new and am wrapping up some older pendents. He he he, I LOVE GLASS. We are all set to do the Race for the Hungry tomorrow, Turkey with my family and my big shopping on Friday will be at the Glass shop. Gooble Gooble.

Best Bond Ever!!!

Friday night Rich, Mark and I went "Opening night" to the new Bond flick...we have seen many Bond flicks together but I must say the one was the BEST!!! It didn't rely on explosions just great writing, strong characters and quality acting. Loved it.

Now we are watching Prarie Home Companion, in contract to Bond...this sucks!!! Dont waste your time-no matter how much you may respect Garrison Keillor. The hightlight of the day was mini picnic at Ancil Hoffman park (where we were married) and 2hour walk. Its so beautiful there. Enjoy your weekend all. K

End Result

At least I'm an equal opportunity "humiliator." These totally worked in the rain. Alley doesn't always wear hers but Tig...all the time. even Meepers doesn't approve.

transition to winter

well we pretty much are shut ins...except for the wild call of a good craft fair and sushi. But we are well and happy! You know you're living large when you have new slippers and wear them daily!!! But now I need advice, look at these pix of Tiger...with winter upon us and Tiger being out during the day, should I buy her a coat/sweater??? See the before and after pix...once she had this luxurious deep coat, now with her Lupus or the pills, her coat is taking forever to grown in. Each summer we usually shave her due to our heat here in Sac and her black coat....boy I regret that decision. So coat or no coat???

where to begin???

Welp, Sunday night we saw David Sedaris speak and imagine this, I got offended...and I've been working on this analogy all night...thats like going to see Sam Kinasin/Andrew Dice Clay/ect and being offended. I still think he's genius its just interesting how we all have our own issues that are super personal and sensitive. So I am not turned off just a little put off.

Other events, I completed our "group project" fountain~love it.

Then tonight it was Ladies night out, Boogie, Nanette, Sandy and I all met at Zocolos (sp?) great stories, company and friends. The time change is jacking me up and I'm waiting to adjust.

Mini Scorpio Party

Our dearest friends, Mark and Edda Pyle and Margaret and Mike Aarons went to Sushi for Mark and Margaret's birthdays Friday night. And it was amazing to me, Mike actually likes Sushi more than Rich...it was great...then back to our house to imbibe in a few libations. Drinks drank, music played and picture viewing forced on poor Mike and Margaret. We all had a great time catching up and sharing stories~happy birthdays friends.
