Hottest day of the Summer

And Mark Pyle calls to order, ShovelFest '08. He rented a tractor and hired two "Labor Ready" day workers. We started early this morning, gloved, sunscreened up and willing to put a days worth of killah work in. What we didn't expect on this 100 degree plus day was the humor and laughing through the wheelbarrow caravan, through the dirt, through back breaking shoveling...but with tunes of our youth inspiring us to continue, together we pulled 20 yards of dirt out of Mark's backyard. Rich, Edda, Don, Will, Larry and myself freakin rocked a brutal day. Mark was our quarterback and we all took his lead and orders in stride...each burning muscle, sweating through our clothes but not through the dirt, nothing penetrates the dirt....but it was fill the wheelbarrow, maneuver it through obstical course, get it to the dumpster, up the ramp and dump....then repeat 100's of times. Thanks to Mark's good karma he hired some Day Laborers that were up for the challenge. Plus they were funny, underspoken Larry (who's been married 7 times) and joking Will (with one lung, a machete fight story, 8 kids and land in Shasta that he's going to move to) when you get down to what makes you feel "real" in life, today was one of those days...we were all equal, equally in pain, equally suffering, equally hot but most importantly equally appreciative of the fact that a hard days work is something to be proud of and together we could move mountains.
