My Uncle Sonny's 75th birthday

Rich and I drove down to join in the fun in Pahrump, Nevada. Caravan'd with my Sissy and my mom going there. We took the "road less traveled," Road 168 was outrageously beautiful, desolate, the epitome of desert...and so twisted, switch backs and loads of "road narrows and dip" signs. It was a mix of rollercoaster and log ride all in the Flintstone's desert. We left Sac around 10am and pulled into Pahrump after 8pm (oohf). We dropped our bags and we all made a bee line for the slot machines and free drinks !!! No big wins but the free drinks aided our sleep. Saturday we headed to my Uncle's house in the afternoon. We reunited with aunts, uncles and cousins. Then had the opportunity to meet his rowdier friends, Danny, Texas Pa & Ma, Doc, Eve and the list of characters go on and on. We all traded stories, secrets and confessions with Sonny and all had good belly laughs. Thanks Pat for bringing us all together for such a special event. Love to you Uncle Sonny

and Bev and Skip....hope to see you in Loreto.

In the evening we did a bit more gambling...Rich ate Kathy's dinner and Auntie Ann spent a little too much time at the poker game and we found that the better drinks are next door at the Terrible's Casino. The drive home today started early so we could drive through Death Valley. Then the back side of the Sierra Nevada’s...Ansel Adams Wilderness and the fall colors in Markleeville were yellow, oranges and reds on fire. We are pooped and forever indebted to Sean and Lori for taking care of our furry family-THANKS SO MUCH!!!

As much as I dislike NV, your pictures make me very homesick. Happy bday to Uncle Sonny! Did you drive through Independence or Bishop? Glad you're back home safe.
