Reunion

I haven't seen Matthew my nephew in ten years and delighted to reconnect. Really his brother is to thank for reconnecting with me, I forgot just how awesome it is to be around them. What a treat, great young men with strange, yet appropriately twisted senses of humor. Plus we were able to meet Matt's girlfriend (yes a professional surfer), Mio. She was so nice, except she had to put up with us updating each other with our own families updates! I am so happy to reconnect and could eat them all with a spoon...they are that cute.
ps. Poll Pole is progressing...pix to follow...

Successful Saturday

Rich had his company party in the morning on the Spirit of Sacramento. We went up the river past the Pocket area, dining on brunch and smingling with his board members and co-workers. It was very enjoyable then swapped clothes, put on shorts and flip flops and whisked ourselves to Mark Pyle's company party. A tradition, no less!! Or maybe really less...less beer, less silliness but more genuine fun in the Sun. Then we came home and wound up drinking tooooooooo much wine and driving our bikes around the neighborhood drunk!!! We should have gotten a DWUTIOABC ticket...driving while under the influence on a beach cruiser. Sunday was really slow, and I did my best impersonation of a lazy cat alllllll day long.

State Fair 2006

All day long I was sooooooooooooo excited to see REO Speedwagon at the State Fair today. We knew they're going to suck and the people watching is always great (scary) and AARP Speedless Wagon didn't let us down. Sean and Lori met us there and we sang along to those songs we knew and made terrible fun of those that sucked or that we didn't know. I thought it was horrible, but coming off a week of two David Bromberg shows, my talent bar is set really high. Either way the company was great and we always have fun with Sean and Lor!!!

ps. minus the mullet the lead singer looks healthy and a bit ripped...just talked wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy tooo much!

Santa Cruz With The Pyles

Well I just had to get out of town and the Pyles were in Santa Cruz so I hopped in the FJ and took a shakedown cruise to the Cruz. The truck is a beaut on the open road, have yet to get off the pavement. the Santa Cruz gang was all there Sunday for a BBQ at the Natural Bridge State Park. Molly had an apple pie to die for(complete with vannila ice cream) and Brian and Anna Boneanna were als in attendance. The Lorentz gang also graced the party with their presence although the Saturday night party had a few folks looking puny.A great morning on the peir getting fishing lesons from Laurel and Mason was folloed up with a dip in the ocean and a bit of a sunburn. What more could a boy and his new truck need. Thanks to all for their hospitality.

The Master revisited

We were lucky enough to attend the KPIG's songwriters festival in Saratoga with my BBF, Brenda. The real motivation was David Bromberg (aka The Master) but enjoyed some of the other other artists. The real surprise was David was playing with the Angel Band...well the way we felt, anyone in the way of David playing was evil and must move out of the way to let the Master Play. But to our surprise the Angel Band deserved our attention, let alone Laurie Lewis got up and played half a set with them all...then David got up and started with "I like to sleep late in the morning"' and proceeded to forget the words...it was hysterical! David is always great but it was a Sunday show, in Saratoga...no less...so we opted for an early retreat to get home Sunday by 10pm. Then Monday pretty much sucked but we survived only with the fact that Tuesday we were going to see David again, here in Sacramento. Now as many times as I've seen David, he has never played in Sac, we've seen him at the Palms, in Reno and now Saratoga...Sacramento was a treat. Plus Mark Pyle was going tooo! He and Rich have listened and loved David since I've known them. Edda was a Bromberg virgin and I'm just a huge fan. So tonight after a long work day I met the Pyles and Rich at Harlow's. Gotta say I was shocked at a 7:30 show...was packed (yeah!!!) every gray haired man with a hawaiin shirt attended and was smiling (beer in hand). The fans may have aged and put on a few (myself included) but we were collectively thrilled. David played back up to the Angel Band again for the first set but came out flaming in the second set, with three encores. Charlie of Little Charlie and the Nightcats, got up and jammed on the harp too. We are pooped but our hearts are full. I love live music and it makes your realize those mcnugget singers we have forced down our throats don't hold anything to those with true talent.

ps. fraker Blogger still wont let me post pix-argggggggggghhhh!

Burning man or bust

We have finally reached the month of Burning Man...so much to put together...all year I've been thinking of mobile art, costumes, gifting gifts, shade, and coolers. So we are open to input, suggestions and recommendations. First concept: the Pole Poll....at our camping spot I'll create a Poll with a number of clipboards attached with different (hopefully thought provoking) questions...for example: How do you describe success? Where do you stand on the War? Who do you admire most...you know the regular stuff. I think it would be cool to see what I collect by the end of the weekend. Then as for costume, you know in the desert...I thought Still Suits (yes from Dune) would be the coolest...Rich just thinks I'm a freak...try this on

ok, freakin pictures wont post...I'll keep trying tomorrow

just an animal in pants

I learned a valuable lesson tonight (sober!) when your wine opener doesn't work right...don't push the cork in....I just spent 20 minutes cleaner red wine from our frig, cabinet, floor, my hair and yes the cheese left out on the counter!!!! Red tide in the Marck kitchen!!!!

Well today I headed to our headquarters in San Ramon. So as a treat on the way home...I thought I'd attempt to find the Jelly Belly factory. So after a few failed attempts, I found it. I bought an entire bag of flops...flops are Jelly Bellys booboos...their mistakes/our heaven. Happy humpday!
